Individuals and Couples Counseling
We offer confidential on-site individual, couples, and family counseling with experienced licensed mental health providers. Many people have been coming in recently expressing mild to significant depression, anxiety, irritability, trouble sleeping, conflicts at home with spouse and children, and issues with career and retirement. Counseling at Friends of Firefighters is a collaborative effort, where you will work together with a counselor to identify what you want to address and set identifiable goals. As with all of our programs, please feel free to call for more information, (718) 643-0980.

You must call for an appointment. If it is an issue that requires immediate attention, please call the office and we will contact a counselor immediately. Someone will get in touch with you.

Peer Groups

We have several peer support staff available to anyone who needs someone to listen. Each peer support staff member has been trained in the Critical Incident Stress Management: Crisis Intervention and Peer Support. All of our peer support staff has been a member of the FDNY, making them not only trained in peer support work, but a firefighter who knows the job inside and out. This gives each person that comes in the comfort of knowing that they can talk to a brother. Their infinite wisdom from shared experiences, people and places gives them an immediate connection. That makes for more open conversation and appreciation of what the other is going through.

We are looking to have peer support groups in the future set up for specific needs such as retirees and single fathers.

Please feel free to call for more information 718-643-0980.
