Current Programs and Accomplishments

The model of community support developed by the Friends of Firefighters' staff and volunteers has proven successful. Friends of Firefighters, working in conjunction with other 9/11-related charities, is the only organization serving these populations in this manner. As a result, Friends of Firefighters has filled a critical void for the FDNY. To date, our volunteers have been invited into more than 100 firehouses. The calls keep coming as word of our organization passes from firehouse to firehouse-our only and most effective advertising medium.

In September of 2006, Nancy Carbone and Friends of Firefighters were featured in an article by ABC News. A link to the article can be found here: http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=2408141&page=1

On October 22, 2006, at the New York City Fire Museum, Friends of Firefighters and Nancy Carbone received one of their highest honors to date, recognition by the Honor Legion of the Fire Department of the City of New York.

In addition, Friends of Firefighters has been featured in various articles concerning the future of Engine Company 204.
