FIREFIGHTERS

In order to canvass the New York area to deliver the maximum amount of services to firefighters who need them, Friends of Firefighters has organized a coalition of service providers. We have in-house clinical services, massage therapy, peer support, and more.

Update on Engine 204

Engine204AcquisitionFriends of Firefighters submitted an application to the Request for Proposals (RFP) in September, 2007 in hopes to secure the firehouse for our continued service to FDNY members and their families. Unfortunately, our request has been turned down and instead the firehouse will be assigned to the Brooklyn Philharmonic. We are steadfast in our belief that firefighters belong in the decommissioned firehouse and mourn the loss of our only firehouse in the Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill communities.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters who have understood the need for the firehouse environment for FDNY members. The letters, petitions, appearances, phone calls and e-mails from active and retired members, as well as civilians are greatly appreciated and reaffirm our commitment to New York City’s Bravest.

Since we have seen a 75% increase in direct services and realize that another expansion is necessary, we are continuing to search for a familiar setting that would be more beneficial to the people we serve. In the meantime, our services to the FDNY community continue at our current locations on Columbia Street and we look forward to the future!
